A heart-warming romance between two people who never dream they're made for each other. Although tragedy brings these two unwilling business partners together, their story is still a great mix of lighthearted banter and sobering reality. I love this story!

Winning Over the Cowboy Texas Cowboys Shannon Taylor Vannatter 9780373622696 Books Reviews

A tender romance with a sweet twist at the end. I couldn't put it down!
Landry Malone’s fiesty determination keeps Chase Donovan off-balance in his efforts to regain full control of his family’s Texas dude ranch. As much fun as it is to watch Landry rise to his every challenge, the real surprise in Winning Over the Cowboy is the supporting cast of characters. From Chase’s parents, Elliot and Janice, to the Fletchers to Resa McCall - these characters bid you to unpack your bags and settle in at Chasing Eden Dude Ranch. Stay a spell. You’ll be so glad you did!
I loved this book! I won a copy and read it as soon as I received it. The characters are well-developed, the plot is different enough to separate it from a lot of other romance plots, and the pace is fast. It's refreshing to read a book where I don't have to worry about sex, violence, or horrible language. Well done, Shannon!
For the romantic reader out there, this is a delightful novel set on a Texas dude ranch with a real cowboy. How could anything go wrong? But it does, and Landry tries to sort out her life with the very dashing Chase making her heart and head spin. This reader enjoyed the details that the author included which made a mental visual snapshot of each scene. The narrative moved the plot forward in a meaningful manner. I won this book, but will be purchasing more of Shannon Taylor Vannatter's novels. They are so enjoyable wrapped in a quilt with a cup of hot chocolate.
Okay, book lovers, if you are starting your "great books to read this summer" list, you're going to want to add Winning over the Cowboy by Shannon Taylor Vannatter. The book is great and a speedy read. Althoughhhh, you may want to take your time and savor the courtship of the two main characters, Chase and Landry. He's a pessimist who believes Landry is trying to steal his portion of his family's legacy. She is a reluctant optimist (jilted at the altar a year earlier) who now wants nothing more than to move forward in her life and to honor her best friend's (Chase's sister) final wishes.

Landry escapes the sympathy and embarrassment of her hometown after Kyle, her former fiancee, leaves her standing at the altar. When her best friend dies on her honeymoon, Landry discovers she is named as part owner to her friend's ranch. Still shaken from her friend's death and her fiancee's rejection, Landry leaves her hometown only to encounter Chase, her best friend's brother, and the other part owner of the ranch. Under the provisions of the will, both Chase and Landry must run the business for a year before the agreement can be breached. Chase doesn't want her involved in the business, much less in his heart, and sets out to prove she has no place on the family-owned ranch He's taken aback, however, when he realizes how business savvy Landry is--not to mention how beautiful she is. Not only can she hold her own with Chase, she has a wealth of unique ideas that will grow the ranch. In the process, he finds it harder and harder to remain distanced from Landry's charm and intelligence.

Landry tires of Chase's constant tests and demands but finds herself falling for this strong-willed, sultry cowboy. Trust slowly envelops her heart for the first time since Kyle left her. But when she overhears a conversation between Chase and a farmhand, she is devastated. She decides to leave the ranch, refuse her inheritance, and bury her feelings for Chase by doing the unthinkable.

This book has the quick pacing I've come to expect from Vanatter. Well-crafted twists are brilliant and her characters are solid and endearing, realistic and memorable. They will stay with you long after you read the final pages. As an added plus, Vannatter weaves in a delightful secondary character--Resa, a respected, enigmatic, well-known Texas furniture designer. Hints of Resa's intriguing background added to the tension and the overall enjoyment of the story. I have a feeling Resa will be featured in the upcoming book in this series. I am eager to find out more about this mysterious woman.
Landry's dream has always been to own her own dude ranch. By no means did she hope to gain that dude ranch through her best friends death. According to Eden's will Landry and Eden's brother Chase are now co-owners of the dude ranch and must find a way to work together. The only problem is that neither trusts the other. Landry has just been dumped at the alter by her fiance so she cannot afford to trust another man in her life and Chase thinks that Landry is just a gold digging usurper bent on stealing his family inheritance away from him. Chase comes up with a plan to get Landry to sell him her half of the ranch, but will it backfire on him?

Awww, I really enjoyed Landry and Chase's characters. They were both rather adorable and of course meant for each other. I did get frustrated at their assumptions about each other. It seemed that they would take a step forward in their relationship and then two steps back, but they eventually got there. I loved the whole concept of the dude ranch and the way that Landry and Chase managed to work together to promote their different areas of interest. The spiritual aspect of the story was light with mentions of going to church and a need for trust, but not overly preachy. A sweet story with likable characters.
Loved this book. Enjoyed the characters and the setting. It was easy to put myself in Landry's place and understand her feelings. It also shows how important it is to put your trust in God to help when things go wrong.
A heart-warming romance between two people who never dream they're made for each other. Although tragedy brings these two unwilling business partners together, their story is still a great mix of lighthearted banter and sobering reality. I love this story!
